Wuhan University and the University of Auckland launch their joint undergraduate pharmacy program.

Wuhan University (WHU) and the University of Auckland (UOA) in New Zealand recently launched their joint undergraduate pharmacy program.

The event was attended by Ron Xavier, education counselor at the New Zealand Embassy in China, Michael Kingsley, dean of the Faculty of Science at UOA, and Yuan Yufeng, vice-president of WHU, among others.

Yuan emphasized that this partnership aims to harness the strengths of both universities to develop pharmacy professionals with a global perspective. He expressed hopes that the program would become a vital link for educational exchange between China and New Zealand.

Kingsley reiterated UOA's commitment to this collaboration, highlighting the integration of high-quality teaching resources to develop talent capable of navigating the fast-evolving healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.

Xavier acknowledged the longstanding cooperative relationship between China and New Zealand in higher education, confirming the New Zealand government's robust support for such initiatives and hoping the program would broaden students' international perspectives and enhance their cross-cultural communication skills.

The program, approved by the Ministry of Education in December 2025, follows a "3+1" training model. Students will spend the first three years at WHU and complete their final year at UOA. Those who fulfill the graduation requirements of both institutions will earn Bachelor of Science degrees from each university.
