January 14, 2025

The list released on the official website of Elsevier Data Repository.

Several professors and PhD students from the Electronic Information School at Wuhan University (WHU) earned spots on the 2024 World's Top 2% Scientists List.

This list, released by Stanford University in partnership with the Elsevier Data Repository, recognizes global leaders in research across various scientific disciplines.

Professor Ma Jiayi was named on the "Career-Long Impact" list, a recognition of his sustained academic influence over the course of his career.

Professors Ma Yong, Ma Jiayi, Tian Xin, Li Zile, Zheng Guoxing, Hu Yulin, Ni Binbin, and Gong Wei were included in the "Single-Year Impact" list, which honors scientists for their significant academic contributions in the past year. This marks a notable increase, with two more professors joining the list compared to last year. PhD students Xu Han and Zhang Hao also made the list.

The rankings are based on data from the Stanford & Elsevier database, using the Science-Metrix classification system. Scientists are evaluated across 22 fields and 174 subfields, with metrics including citation counts, h-index, hm-index (adjusted for co-authors), author position-based citation scores, and a composite metric (c-score). Only scientists with at least five published papers (highly cited) are considered, with rankings reflecting their percentile standing within their specific fields and subfields.
