Yuan Yufeng, vice-president of Wuhan University (WHU), welcomed a delegation from Russia's Baikal State University (BSU), led by vice-rector Vladimir Sinichenko, to WHU on March 24.

Vladimir Sinichenko (L), vice-rector of BSU, and Yuan Yufeng, vice-president of WHU, sign a memorandum of understanding.
Yuan welcomed the delegation and introduced WHU's history and international collaborations. He noted that WHU has established partnerships with 341 universities and research institutions across 53 countries, including Russia, through student-faculty exchanges and joint research platforms like the China-Russia Joint Research Center of International Law. He encouraged Baikal students to pursue dual degrees in WHU's economics, management, and information management programs, hoping for deeper cooperation.
Sinichenko highlighted BSU's strengths as a top economics and law school in eastern Siberia, with alumni including finance ministers worldwide. Given the growing ties between Russia, and China, he proposed student exchanges and collaboration on cross-border development, trade, and tourism. He also invited WHU leaders to visit Russia for further discussions.
The two universities signed a memorandum of understanding to accelerate cooperation, particularly in dual-degree programs for economics and information management students.
