WHU delegation shines at ISPRS Geospatial Week 2025

The International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) Geo-Spatial Week (GSW 2025) concluded in Dubai on April 11, with Wuhan University's (WHU) delegation earning several prestigious awards.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) hosted the event, which drew over 2,000 experts from around the world.

Li Deren, Wuhan University Academician, delivered a keynote speech at ISPRS Geospatial Week 2025.

WHU Academician Li Deren delivered a keynote speech on "Spatio-Temporal Intelligence for Sustainable Development Goals", showcasing China's advancements in BeiDou navigation, high-resolution remote sensing, UAVs, and intelligent robotics. He also introduced the innovative service model of the "Dongfang Huiyan" satellite constellation.

WHU's faculty played a major role in the academic sessions. Professor Yang Bisheng chaired the "Laser Scanning 2025" session, Professor Shao Zhenfeng led the "Remote Sensing Monitoring for Urban Environment" session, and Professor Liang Xinlian hosted the "Smart Forests and Agriculture 2025" forum, facilitating in-depth academic exchange.

Thirteen students from the State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping, and Remote Sensing delivered well-received presentations. Chen Yunong won the Best Paper Award in the "Remote Sensing Monitoring for Urban Environment" session, Mao Yangsu received the Best Paper Award in "Data Management and Quality in Remote Sensing", and Ye Peng was awarded the ISPRS Foundation Travel Grant.

With over 10 papers and abstracts accepted, the laboratory ranked among the top globally in terms of institutional representation.

The delegation also visited the Chinese Consulate General in Dubai and the Chinese Embassy in Oman, promoting strategic cooperation on a global satellite ground station network with Oman Lens.
