Professor Lu is a leading researcher in organic electrosynthesis and electrocatalysis. He pioneered the concept of "paired redox catalysis", developed confined photoelectrocatalysts, and established a highly selective platinum-based electrocatalytic hydrogenation system.

Over the past five years, he has published extensively in top international journals as a corresponding author. His work has been featured in the Encyclopedia of Reagents for Organic Synthesis and highlighted by journals such as Synfacts and the Chinese Journal of Organic Chemistry as cover stories and featured articles.

Established in 2008, the CAPA Distinguished Faculty Award recognizes one outstanding chemist each from China and the United States annually for exceptional contributions to chemistry and chemical biology.
