WHU teachers win honorable titles for contributions to graduate education

Wuhan University recently announced the winners of its 10th “President’s Award for Outstanding Contributions to Graduate Education”, with five professors honored for their exemplary achievements in graduate cultivation and mentorship.

This year’s recipients are Professor Wu Dan from the School of Information Management, Professor Liu Zhengyou from the School of Physics and Technology, Professor Xia Junqiang from the School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering, Professor Xu Caijun from the School of Geodesy and Geomatics, and Professor Miao Xiaoping from the School of Public Health.

The award, established in 2012, recognizes faculty members who have made outstanding contributions to graduate education and demonstrated strong leadership. Over the past decade, 48 faculty members have been selected, inspiring innovation and commitment in graduate mentorship across the university.

The five awardees have each developed distinctive models of graduate cultivation, combining academic excellence with strong mentorship. Their efforts include advancing digital and internationalized education, fostering innovation in cutting-edge scientific research, integrating engineering practice with classroom teaching, promoting synergy between research and education, and cultivating student-centered growth with a focus on ethics, competence, and creativity.

Their achievements have led to national scholarships, high-impact research publications, international recognition, and the cultivation of a new generation of scholars and experts who now serve as leading professionals in academia and industry.
