Professor Shen Xiao awarded 2025 RSC Fluorine Chemistry Prize

Professor Shen Xiao from the Institute for Advanced Studies at Wuhan University has been awarded the prestigious 2025 RSC Fluorine Chemistry Prize, according to a recent announcement by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) in the United Kingdom.

Shen will deliver a lecture in the UK in April 2026 as part of this recognition.

The prize, established in 2005, is a significant accolade in the fluorine chemistry field. Shen is the third Chinese scholar to receive the honor. The award is presented biennially by an international panel of experts to a scientist under the age of 40 who has made outstanding contributions to the field. It aims to recognize exceptional young scholars and promote innovative development in fluorine chemistry.

Shen has made numerous influential contributions to fluorine chemistry and related interdisciplinary fields, publishing over 40 papers in esteemed international journals such as Nature Synthesis. His academic excellence has earned him several awards, including the Thieme Chemistry Journals Award.

Shen is also involved in academic service. He serves on the advisory board for Chem Catalysis, is a young advisory board member for Organic Chemistry Frontiers, and a young editorial board member for both Chinese Chemical Letters and the Chinese Journal of Organic Chemistry.

He is also a committee member of the Silicon Energy and Chemical Industry Professional Committee of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, where he contributes to academic exchange and the cultivation of young talent.
