Wuhan University co-hosts ICA workshop on precision mapping

The first International Cartographic Association (ICA) workshop on High-Definition Maps and Machine Cartography took place in Deqing county, Zhejiang province, drawing over 70 scholars and experts from all over the world.

The symposium featured presentations from 12 distinguished experts representing renowned institutions such as the Vienna University of Technology, the University of New South Wales, and Wuhan University.

These presentations delved into a broad array of advanced topics, including the evolution of modern cartography within the framework of high-precision maps, the shift from high-precision maps to comprehensive world models, and the techniques used in constructing Google Maps.

Participants recognized high-precision maps as a pivotal innovation in cartography, essential for the future of autonomous driving. This emerging field integrates modern surveying technology, information platforms, the Internet of Things, spatiotemporal big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence.
