The AI+ Watershed Simulator Joint Studio is unveiled on Nov 3.

Wuhan University and Wuhan AI Research held an unveiling ceremony on Nov 3 for their newly established AI+ Watershed Simulator Joint Studio.

Xia Jun, an academician from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, highlighted the significance of the watershed simulator, which is designed to build a computable, interactive, and predictive digital twin system for watersheds.

Xia added that the system will integrate multiple components including meteorology, hydrology, water resources, and aquatic ecology to support national scientific decision-making in water security, comprehensive watershed management, and climate change adaptation.

Xia emphasized that the studio will address core AI technologies for long-term hydrometeorological forecasting and watershed simulation.

Participants engaged in discussions about the prospects of AI applications in watershed science, effective models for scientific collaboration, and pathways for translating research into real-world applications.
