WHU hosts geospatial information science conference

The geospatial information science conference is held at Wuhan University.

Wuhan University hosted the 2025 International Conference on Geospatial Information Science Education, Innovation, and Applications from Nov 8 to 9, attracting experts and scholars from nearly 20 countries and regions, including China, Canada, and the Netherlands.

Participants engaged in both online and offline discussions, focusing on educational innovation, technological breakthroughs, application expansion, and international cooperation within the field of geospatial information science.

Li Deren, an academician from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, highlighted China's significant achievements in employing spatiotemporal intelligence technologies to advance global sustainable development goals.

Cheng Tao, a fellow of the British Academy and a professor at University College London, delivered a report on spatiotemporal generative artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, Orhan Altan, a professor at Istanbul Technical University, contributed an online report on international cooperation for disaster reduction.

The conference also featured special presentations by two representatives from the United Nations.

The event included four thematic sessions, covering topics such as intelligent remote sensing, spatiotemporal intelligent services, geospatial technologies supporting sustainable development goals, and a dedicated session for young scientists.

A total of 32 academic reports were presented, fostering in-depth exchanges among experts and scholars on cutting-edge developments in spatiotemporal intelligence, earth observation, and advanced remote sensing technologies.
