Professor Liu Zhengyou is elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Wuhan University achieved a significant milestone on Nov 21 with the announcement of its latest academicians election results. Three esteemed professors from the university have been honored with election to prestigious national academies.

Professor Liu Zhengyou has joined the Chinese Academy of Sciences, while Professors Liu Quansheng and Jiang Weiping have been elected to the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Liu Zhengyou, dean of the School of Physics and Technology, has made pioneering contributions to condensed matter physics and acoustics. His influential research on phononic crystals, acoustic metamaterials, and topological physics has been widely recognized, with over 200 papers published in renowned journals such as Science, Nature, and Physical Review Letters.

Professor Liu Quansheng is elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Liu Quansheng is acclaimed for his expertise in deep engineering rock mass stability and the prevention of large deformation disasters. His work also encompasses safety and rapid tunneling technology for TBM in complex geological strata, as well as intelligent perception and decision-making control of coal and rock information during mining.

He has published over 250 SCI-indexed and 460 EI-indexed papers, holds 69 invention patents, and has authored three monographs.

Jiang is the director of the Institute of Science and Technology Development. His groundbreaking work in global satellite navigation system reference station networks, coordinate frameworks, and global sea level measurements has played a key role in developing China's BeiDou Ground-Based Augmentation System and space reference engineering.

He has published over 310 papers and authored three monographs.

The university now counts 20 academicians among its faculty, including 12 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and 8 members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Professor Jiang Weiping is elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
