Wuhan University (WHU) unveiled its School of Technology and Industry on Dec 18, the first of its kind in China.
The school aims to dismantle disciplinary barriers, integrate industry, academia, and research, and cultivate versatile leaders to advance the development of new quality productive forces.
The school has established four key operational mechanisms:
Interdisciplinary Integration: The school fosters in-depth fusion of technological insight and managerial acumen by combining resources from science and management, creating a cluster of disciplines designed for future industries.
Collaborative Framework: The framework utilizes government policies, local industry, and WHU’s academic strengths to promote resource sharing and complementary advantages.
Integrated Development Model: The model connects innovation, industry, talent, and financial chains, forming a comprehensive ecosystem that supports theoretical innovation, technological breakthroughs, practical applications, and financial backing.
Comprehensive Educational System: The school offers a full spectrum of programs, including undergraduate, master's, doctoral, MBA, and EMBA, designed to nurture academic leaders and industry pioneers with expertise in technology, business, finance, governance, and international perspectives.
Mao Zhenhua, head of the school, said it aims to provide a replicable, scalable WHU model for other universities to support the development of new quality productive forces by establishing a new disciplinary system that integrates scientific and industrial innovation.
