I. Application
(A) Eligibility
1. Applicants from Hong Kong and Macao must hold a permanent resident ID card and a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents or a Residence Permit. Applicants from Taiwan must hold valid identification and a Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents or a Residence Permit.
2. Applicants to master's programs must hold a degree equivalent to a bachelor's degree from Mainland China. Applicants to doctoral programs must hold a degree equivalent to a master's degree from Mainland China.
3. Applicants must have good moral character and be in good physical health.
4. Applicants must submit two written recommendation letters from scholars with associate professor titles or equivalent, related to the field of study.
5. Applicants to professional master's programs in law, business administration, public administration, tourism management, engineering management (code 125601), clinical medicine, and dentistry must meet additional requirements as specified in our 2026 admissions guidelines for mainland professional degree graduates. (E) Application Requirements
In 2026, the application process for graduate students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan includes online registration and confirmation. All applicants must complete online registration, confirm their information online, and pay the application fee.
1. Applicants should log into the "Admissions Information Network for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan" (http://www.gatzs.com.cn/) during the specified period to read the application instructions and register according to the online announcements from the Ministry of Education, application centers, and admissions units, uploading electronic photos as required.
2. Applicants must accurately fill in their personal information and provide truthful materials. Applicants are responsible for any consequences resulting from non-compliance with eligibility requirements, errors in the online information, or false information.
3. Applicants may only apply to one program at one admissions unit.
II. Online Confirmation
All applicants must confirm their information online as required by their application center. Specific times and requirements will be determined and announced by each center, and no late confirmations will be accepted.
III. Examination
The entrance examination consists of a preliminary test and a retest.
(A) Preliminary Test Subjects
The preliminary test subjects are the unified subjects set by the Ministry of Education: Comprehensive Ability (I) or Comprehensive Ability (II), as specified in the admissions catalog.
(B) Preliminary Test Time and Format
Preliminary test time: April 11, from 8:45 am to 12:00 pm.
The preliminary test is computer-based, organized by each application center.
(C) Retest
Based on preliminary test scores and our enrollment plan, candidates for the retest will be determined.
Retest time: Before May 20.
Retest content: Focuses on assessing the candidate's professional level, fundamental qualities, practical skills, analytical thinking, and innovation (including professional course assessments).
Specific retest dates, formats, and requirements will be determined and announced by the respective admissions departments. Written recommendations from two scholars with associate professor titles or equivalent, related to the field of study, must be submitted during the retest stage.
IV. Admission
The admission list will be determined based on a comprehensive assessment of the applicant's materials, examination (preliminary and retest) scores, and medical examination results.
Admission letters will be sent to successful candidates by early June.
V. Enrollment
New students must report to the university at the time specified in the admission letter. Upon arrival, the university will conduct health and enrollment eligibility checks. Candidates who do not meet the required conditions will have their admission canceled. If unable to report on time due to special reasons, a written leave request must be submitted to the university. Failure to report within two weeks without a valid reason will result in the cancellation of admission, except in cases of force majeure or other legitimate reasons.
VI. Study Duration
(A) Master's Students
1. Full-time academic master's programs have a duration of three years (except for the French Language and Literature program in the School of Foreign Languages and Literature, which is two years).
2. Full-time professional master's programs:
Programs in law (non-law), architecture, urban and rural planning, clinical medicine, dentistry, nursing, drama, and film and television have a duration of three years.
Other professional master's programs have a duration of two years.
3. Part-time master's programs have the same duration as the corresponding program and admission type on the mainland.
(B) Doctoral Students
Doctoral programs have a duration of four years.
VII. Fees During Study
Applicants must pay tuition, accommodation, and other related fees as per regulations. The tuition fee for master's students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan for the class of 2026 is 8,000 yuan ($1,142) per person per year, and for doctoral students, it is 10,000 yuan per person per year. The final amount will be as per the 2026 fee schedule published by the university. Accommodation fees range from 800 to 2,500 yuan per person per year, depending on the conditions.
VIII. Degrees and Diplomas
Students who complete the required coursework within the designated period and meet the conditions specified in the "Implementation Rules for Graduate Student Status Management (Revised)" and the "Interim Implementation Rules for Degree Conferral" will be awarded the corresponding degree and diploma.
