Three academic works by Professor Zheng Chuanyin from Wuhan University’s School of Arts were unveiled in multiple languages, including English, French, and Japanese, at the 32nd Beijing International Book Fair, held from June 17 to 21.

Six foreign-language editions have either been published or are in translation. These editions are being released by prestigious academic publishers such as Kyoto University Press in Japan, Taylor & Francis in the UK, and World Scientific Publishing in Singapore.

Hao Zhensheng, president of the Chinese Society of Editors, lauded Zheng's academic achievements as a model for bringing Chinese opera research to a global audience, highlighting the "scholar-editor-translator" collaborative model as a replicable approach to disseminating Chinese scholarship worldwide with depth, breadth, and impact.

Feng Shixin, director of the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication, noted that Chinese opera is a living encyclopedia of Chinese culture on stage, reflecting the Chinese people’s aesthetic ideals, ethical concepts, and philosophical wisdom.

Professor Zheng's research enhances foundational knowledge in opera studies, offering an excellent academic gateway for the world to understand Chinese opera and playing a crucial role in promoting Chinese opera culture globally, sharing China's stories, and fostering exchanges and mutual understanding between Chinese and foreign cultures.

Wang Ankui, former director of the Chinese National Academy of Arts' Institute of Opera, emphasized that Zheng’s works help foreign readers appreciate the national characteristics of Chinese opera and its shared features with global theater.

Zheng expressed that using opera as a medium for disseminating the national image can inspire admiration for the profound Chinese civilization among foreign audiences.
