WHU and MCI sign a cooperation agreement.
A delegation from Wuhan University (WHU) recently visited Austria and Belgium to participate in a series of exchange activities aimed at strengthening international collaboration.
The delegation visited the Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) and reviewed the substantial progress achieved since the 2022 cooperation agreement, including joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchanges, and academic forums.
At the second Sino-European Innovation Forum hosted by MCI, the delegation participated in discussions that culminated in the signing of a student exchange agreement, further strengthening collaborative efforts in economics, management, public health, and entrepreneurship.
The delegation also engaged with the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), where they agreed to utilize WHU's expertise in surveying and remote sensing.
This collaboration aims to bolster the UN-SPIDER Regional Support Office in China by focusing on space technology for disaster reduction, outer space legal studies, and global talent development.
A supplemental memorandum of understanding was also signed to enhance the application of the university's nighttime remote sensing technology for global disaster reduction.
In Louvain-la-Neuve, the delegation toured the China-Belgium Technology Center and participated in the WHU-Europe University industry-academia-research cooperation dialogue, discussing Sino-European economic and trade relations, technological cooperation, and higher education partnerships.
A memorandum was signed to establish a high-level industry-academia-research cooperation platform in economic development, and the European industry-academia-research center was inaugurated.
The delegation met with Herve Jeanmart, vice-rector for International Affairs at Universite catholique de Louvain, to expand joint PhD programs, researcher exchanges, and industry-academia-research collaboration.
The delegation hosted a talent forum in Leuven, where it presented the university's talent policies to international scholars and invited them to join.
They also met with the Chinese embassies in Austria and Belgium to provide updates on WHU's collaborative progress and seek continued guidance and support for Sino-European partnerships.
