WHU and Bulgaria strengthen polar research collaboration

The Wuhan delegation participates in the 18th Joint Chinese-Bulgarian Commission for Scientific and Technological Cooperation.

A delegation from Wuhan University, led by Gong Wei, vice president, visited Bulgaria from Oct 25 to 28 to enhance cooperation in polar research.

The visit included participation in the 18th Joint Chinese-Bulgarian Commission for Scientific and Technological Cooperation, as well as visits to Sofia University, the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute, and the Chinese Embassy in Bulgaria.

Gong delivered a speech at the meeting showcasing Wuhan University's innovative achievements in aerospace information technology and polar science. He also explored potential avenues for collaboration with Bulgarian institutions.

The delegation engaged in discussions with Georgi Valchev, rector of Sofia University, and Christo Pimpirev, director of the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute. Both sides expressed a strong commitment to expanding cooperation and establishing a closer academic partnership.

The delegation also met with Dai Qingli, the Chinese ambassador to Bulgaria, to share updates on Wuhan University's progress in polar research and collaborative efforts with Bulgaria.

Dai praised the university's contributions to polar research and expressed optimism for ongoing and deepened cooperation between the two countries.
