Ole Mejlhede Jensen, a distinguished academician at the Engineering Academy of Denmark and a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Engineering, recently visited Wuhan University (WHU).

Jensen, who is also a professor at the Technical University of Denmark, was warmly received by Yuan Yufeng, vice-president of WHU.

Yuan provided an overview of WHU's educational programs and initiatives and expressed a keen interest in expanding collaboration with Jensen, particularly in the field of smart building materials.

Jensen shared his extensive experience with international courses in smart materials and offered valuable suggestions on how to inspire innovation among young students.

The discussions between the two parties centered on cutting-edge research in smart materials, talent development, and joint applications for international cooperation programs.

Jensen also delivered an academic lecture at WHU, where he explored the unique properties of various smart materials through experimental demonstrations. He emphasized the importance of sourcing materials locally and supporting sustainable development.

Jensen is a fellow of the International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures (RILEM). He has served as chair or vice-chair of several technical and standing committees, and organized and taught approximately 25 international doctoral courses, training between 500 and 1,000 PhD students.
