The Confucius Institute at the University of Aberdeen, a collaboration between Wuhan University and the University of Aberdeen, was officially inaugurated on September 27, 2013. Located opposite the prestigious King's College, the institute is equipped with dedicated classrooms, office spaces, and advanced multimedia teaching facilities, as well as networking and office equipment.
The Confucius Institute primarily offers Chinese language courses and promotes Chinese culture across universities, schools, and communities in northeastern Scotland. It fosters cooperation and exchanges in talent cultivation, discipline development, and scientific research between the partner institutions, while advancing grassroots exchanges within the framework of China-UK cultural relations.
The Chinese language courses are divided into two parts: one is provided by the main Confucius Institute for various levels, including primary and secondary school students, university students, faculty, and local community members; the other is offered at regular teaching sites in local schools.
