Named after IADR founder Professor William J. Gies, the award honors three of the most impactful papers published annually in the association's flagship journal, the Journal of Dental Research.

The winning study is titled Rapid Intrafibrillar Mineralization Strategy Enhances Adhesive-Dentin Interface. It introduces an innovative "rapid intrafibrillar mineralization" strategy using polyacrylic acid-stabilized amorphous calcium fluoride (PAA-ACF) as a dentin pretreatment. This method achieves collagen fibril mineralization in just one minute – far faster than the typical 30-minute international standard.
