WHU journals achieve Q1 ranking in 2025 JCR report

Recent releases from the Clarivate Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and Scopus CiteScore metrics have highlighted the exceptional performance of several academic journals published by Wuhan University, with multiple journals achieving Q1 rankings in their respective fields.

The Geo-spatial Information Science (GSIS) journal, with an impact factor of 5.4, is ranked in the Q1 category within the Remote Sensing field, with a CiteScore of 10.2, placing it in the top 6 percent globally.

The journal’s annual publication volume has increased to 245 articles, and since its inclusion in the Science Citation Index (SCI) in 2020, it has been indexed by several major databases, including EI, Scopus, and GeoBase.

Cell Insight achieved its first impact factor of 6.4, placing it in the Q1 category for Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. Its CiteScore has increased from 2.7 in 2024 to 9.1 in 2026, placing it in the Q1 category across all four subject areas, with its highest discipline ranking in the top 9 percent.

The journal focuses on cutting-edge fields such as cell biology, immunology, and biomedical technologies, aiming to publish innovative and theoretical original research that elucidates molecular and cellular mechanisms of biological processes and disease development.

DOAJ, PubMed, and Scopus have indexed Cell Insight, and in May 2025, it passed Clarivate's evaluation for inclusion in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI).

Data and Information Management (DIM) received its first impact factor of 8.3, ranking in the Q1 category for Information Science & Library Science and placing eighth in this field.

It is the only Q1 journal in this discipline hosted by a Chinese institution, and its CiteScore increased from 3.7 in 2023 to 11.1 in 2025.

The journal focuses on the intersection of data science and information management, emphasizing innovative governance, digital culture, and intelligent information services. DIM has been indexed by authoritative databases and evaluation systems, including ESCI, Scopus, EI, DOAJ, FMS, and AMI.
