Wuhan University offers a rich and diverse dining experience with its dining halls and restaurants, providing affordable and nutritious meals tailored to meet the dietary needs of both students and faculty. The university boasts 26 dining facilities, including 12 student dining halls, 10 specialty restaurants, and four dedicated faculty dining halls, serving over 80,000 members of the campus community. Additionally, two exclusive brand restaurants enhance the culinary offerings, ensuring a wide variety of options to suit different tastes and preferences.

Student dining halls: 

The student dining halls are only open to faculty and students on campus, and only support payment through the campus card (including the Luojia e-card). Cash payments are not accepted.

Business hour:

Breakfast: 07: 00-09: 00

Lunch: 11: 00-13: 00

Dinner: Most dining halls serve dinner from 17:00 to 19:00, except for the Information Campus's Main Student Dining Hall, which serves dinner until 20:30.

The university's Arts and Sciences Campus is home to several popular dining venues, including Meiyuan Dining Hall, Guiyuan Dining Hall, Hubin Dining Hall, and Fengyuan Dining Hall, each offering a wide variety of delicious and budget-friendly options. 

The Engineering Campus has the Main Student Dining Hall, Ethnic Dining Hall, and Second Student Dining Hall, while the Information Campus hosts the Main Student Dining Hall, Second Student Dining Hall, and Fourth Student Dining Hall. Each of these dining halls exclusively serves the university's students and faculty, ensuring a comfortable and inclusive environment. 

Specialty dining facilities and restaurants:  

For those seeking a more diversified dining experience, WHU has 10 specialty dining venues that highlight regional Chinese cuisines and international flavors. Notable options include the Guiyuan Restaurant, Guiyuan Snack Hall, Hubin Specialty Dining Hall, and Fengyuan Specialty Dining Hall on the Arts and Sciences Campus. 

The Engineering Campus has the Tianyuan Dining Hall, Tianyuan Jia Yan Hall, and Third Student Dining Hall, while the Information Campus offers the Third Student Dining Hall and the Affiliated Middle School Dining Hall. In the Medical Campus, the Xingyuan Specialty Dining Hall is a standout choice. 

These specialty venues cater not only to the university community but also to the general public. Payment methods include campus card, WeChat, and Alipay; cash payments are not accepted.

Faculty dining halls: 

Mainly serve the faculty and staff on weekdays. Meiyuan and Tianyuan faculty dining halls are exclusively for faculty and staff during weekdays' lunchtime, and are open to the public at other times. With its extensive variety of dining options, Wuhan University ensures a fulfilling and inclusive dining experience for all members of its community and visitors.

Specialty food guide at WHU

Meiyuan Dining Hall

Nestled between the WHU Library and Luojia Mountain, Meiyuan Dining Hall, fondly known as the university's "royal dining hall", offers a self-service menu of small bowl dishes. Favorites include fried rice with pineapple, Dongpo pork, stir-fried lotus root strips, and stewed snow clam with pawpaw.

Guiyuan Dining Hall

Close to Guiyuan Athletic Field, this canteen features affordable dishes priced individually. Highlights include chestnut braised chicken, pearl meatballs, handmade dumplings, braised noodles, and lamb stewed noodles.

Guiyuan Snack Hall

Downstairs from Guiyuan Dining Hall, this spot is a haven for snack lovers. Offerings include Korean bibimbap, roast goose rice, mala xiangguo (numbing spicy stir-fry pot), Luosi rice noodles, and popular treats like soup dumplings, siu mai, and the fan-favorite Chao’nan baked cakes.

Fengyuan Dining Hall

Opposite Fengyuan Dormitory Building 5, this dining hall specializes in small bowl dishes such as crispy chicken nuggets, salt and pepper shrimp, bamboo-wrapped rice dumplings, and radish beef rice noodles.

Fengyuan Specialty Dining Hall

Serving the needs of international and halal diners, this dining hall offers global flavors: Shanxi knife-cut noodles, teriyaki clay pot rice, Jiaxian-style noodles, and mala xiangguo (numbing spicy stir-fry pot), blending local and international cuisines seamlessly.

Hubin Dining Hall

Situated opposite Hubin Dormitory Building 2, it stands out with visually stunning small bowl dishes like pan-fried cumin tofu, Guangdong-style roast duck, and Sichuan stir-fried lotus root.

Hubin Specialty Dining Hall

Located above Hubin Dining Hall, this spot offers local specialties, such as Henan stewed noodles, fish with five-grain noodles, Lanzhou pulled noodles, and Yunnan rice noodles. Connected to it is the Luojia Noodle Restaurant, which provides teppanyaki, Yunnan rice noodles, beef noodles, and during certain seasons, the canteen also offers late-night snacks.

Engineering Campus's Second Student Dining Hall

Adjacent to the campus sports stadium, this dining hall boasts a menu of braised dishes and intelligent metering options, including twice-cooked beef, spicy chicken feet, and sweet-and-sour pork ribs.

Engineering Campus's Ethnic Dining Hall

Known as the largest ethnic canteen at WHU, it serves authentic Xinjiang specialties such as big plate chicken, lamb pilaf, and hand-pulled noodles, offering a rich taste of Uyghur cuisine.

Engineering Campus's Third Dining Hall

Located east of the sports stadium near Hongbo Gate on the Engineering Campus, this dining hall offers a variety of local delicacies, including flavorful stir-fries, signature set meals, snacks, and healthy low-calorie dishes.

Tianyuan Dining Hall

Situated opposite the post office on the Engineering Campus, Tianyuan Dining Hall boasts two floors of canteens.

First Floor: Divided into a specialty dining hall featuring Wuhan snacks and a faculty section, it offers steamed delicacies, Wuhan-style noodles, pancakes, porridge, and Hubei-, Sichuan-, and Hunan-style small bowl dishes. You can also enjoy Western-style meals, coffee, and desserts. The Luckin Coffee corner and handcrafted pastries make it a perfect spot for gatherings or afternoon breaks.

Second Floor: Home to Tianyuan Jia Yan Hall, a Chinese restaurant centered around Hubei cuisine, with additional dishes from Hunan, Guangdong, and Sichuan cuisines. It provides premium stir-fried dishes and private dining rooms.

Information Campus's Main Dining Hall

Opposite Dormitory Building 17, this dining hall specializes in small bowl dishes and bulk meals. Summer highlights include barbecues and the signature braised crayfish, a student favorite, alongside clams, scallops, and oysters. Its vibrant night snacks are a seasonal delight!

Information Campus Second Dining Hall

Located above the Main Dining Hall, it offers diverse small bowl dishes—meat, vegetarian, soup, and mixed. Unique options include clay pot dishes, Korean bibimbap, Hunan-style rice bowls, and Guangdong roasted meats. The "Luojia U You Bar" provides beverages, ensuring convenient nutritional supplies for students returning from late-night studies.

Information Campus's Fourth Dining Hall

Close to the South Second Gate, this hall has earned its title as the "best canteen at WHU" multiple times. Its diverse cooking styles—braised, stewed, grilled, and more—offer dishes like blueberry yam, crispy chicken legs, and halal specialties such as Xinjiang big plate chicken and braised noodles.

Information Campus's Third Dining Hall

Above the Fourth Dining Hall, this space features over 20 specialty stalls with local and international flavors. Highlights include doner kebab with rice, Hong Kong-style roast meats, and the famous Guangdong roast goose rice, widely considered the best on campus.

Medical Campus:

Xingyuan Dining Hall

Named in honor of the medical profession, Xingyuan Dining Hall spans three floors and can accommodate as many as 1,500 diners.

First Floor: A self-service cafeteria offering an array of dishes, from braised pork trotters to sweet and sour pork ribs. Equipped with smart dining stations, students can conveniently select their favorite meals and enjoy the efficiency of intelligent checkout systems.

Second Floor: A specialty hall with options like hotpot and regional noodle dishes.

Third Floor: Features halal food, a faculty dining area, and a leisure zone that doubles as a student study space.
