Founded in 1923, Wuhan University People’s Hospital (the First Clinical College of Wuhan University, Hubei Provincial People’s Hospital) is a hospital directly affiliated with Wuhan University and one of the nation’s first Class III Grade A general hospitals. It has been selected for the National Project to Enhance the Diagnosis and Treatment of Intractable Diseases and has been designated as a National Regional Medical Center for Mental Disorders. The hospital currently comprises one main campus and four branches, with a total authorized bed capacity of 5,900 and an average daily inpatient admission of nearly 7,000. It is the only large-scale general hospital in Central China equipped with a heavy-ion beam therapy system. Basic qualifications:

1. Demonstrate firm political principles; uphold professional ethics, academic standards, and standards of medical practice; maintain integrity, self-discipline, and sound professional conduct; and have no record of Party or administrative disciplinary sanctions, breaches of medical ethics, academic misconduct, or other adverse conduct. Candidates should be deeply committed to medicine and demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and dedication to advancing their field.

2. Have extensive expertise in their field, with a strong academic foundation, forward-looking disciplinary vision, and excellent clinical skills; enjoy a strong academic reputation and professional influence in China and internationally; accurately understand trends in the field; and demonstrate the ability to lead quality improvement and advancement and overcome development bottlenecks.

3. Demonstrate excellent capabilities in strategic planning, overall management, team leadership, and resource integration; be skilled at building high-level teams and integrating high-quality resources; and be able to pursue first-class goals and drive high-quality, sustainable development of the discipline.

4. Be in good physical and mental health, able to devote full effort to the position, and capable of fulfilling responsibilities in discipline management and service development.

5. As a general rule, first-time candidates for Chair positions should be no older than 55, and first-time candidates for Deputy Chair positions should be no older than 48. Age is calculated as of December 31, 2026.

6. Comply with the hospital's applicable regulations governing the selection and appointment of leadership personnel and position appointments.

Professional qualification requirements:

1. Department Chair: Candidates should have outstanding achievements in clinical care, teaching, and research, as well as strong discipline-management capabilities and a strong sense of professional responsibility and commitment. In principle, candidates should hold a full senior professional title, a doctoral degree, and qualification as a doctoral supervisor. They should have substantial academic influence in their field in China and internationally, extensive experience in discipline development and team management, and experience leading national-level research and/or teaching projects. Candidates should have led high-level achievements in areas such as landmark clinical technologies, major research projects, or key discipline development, and possess the overall capability to lead the discipline toward first-class status.

2. Deputy Department Chair: Candidates should have outstanding achievements in clinical care, teaching, and research; excellent organizational, coordination, communication, and collaboration skills; strong management and planning capabilities; and clear development potential. In general, candidates should hold a doctoral degree in medicine, an associate senior or higher professional title, and qualification as a postgraduate supervisor. They should demonstrate excellent clinical skills, strong research potential, a solid foundation in teaching, effective teamwork, and the ability to address major challenges in discipline development. Experience leading national-level research and/or teaching projects is required. Candidates should be core professionals capable of supporting the discipline's high-quality development.

3. For top medical experts in China and abroad, high-level leading talent, and key experts in urgently needed disciplines, the hospital adopts a global recruitment approach with individualized consideration and exceptional appointment where appropriate.
