The 7th Luojia Gold Autumn International Cultural Festival Held in WHU

From November 26th to 27th, 2011, the Seventh Luojia Gold Autumn International Cultural Festival was held in Guiyuan playground, Wuhan University. In the festival, art works and hand-made food with distinct cultural features were displayed; singing and dancing performance were continued. Luo Jia Mountain was totally immersed in the multi-cultural environment. 

The opening ceremony was held on November 26th. Distinguished guests such as Tian Chengzhong, the vice-governor of Huber province, Shen Yang, the deputy director of international cooperation and communication department of Ministry of Education, leaders of WHU including the president Li Xiaohong, and personnel from foreign embassies attended the ceremony.

In his passionate speech, Li Xiaohong pointed out that this cultural activity, as a banquet for foreign students, has provided a platform for people to broaden their horizon and enhance their friendship. Getting rid of the old framework, this festival interpreted the essence of cultural activities by involving all the students and faculty, including foreign teachers. It is characterized by its high-level and diverse features, which is beneficial for the international development and international spirit formation of WHU.

Tian Chengzhong also made a speech, in the hope that Luojia Gold Autumn International Cultural Festival would become a bridge for communications between foreign students and play a positive role in the promotion of cultural exchange, friendship development between students from different countries, especially the internationalization of Hubei Province.

Shen Yang Later indicated that this annual cultural festival helped build the international environment of WHU and construct a harmonious campus.

 

It was said that the international cultural festival was divided into five parts, namely opening ceremony, International Cultural Exhibition, Luojia Gold Autumn Cooperation Forum, art performance of foreign exchange students, and writing contest named “China in My Eyes”. In the two-day International Cultural Exhibition, accompanied by introduction of foreign students and artistic performance, the art works, pictures, books, clothes and instrument from more than 70 countries and regions were open to the visitors. In the art performance night, more than 300 students from 40 countries put on an excellent show for the audience.
