On June 14th, the grand ceremony of Hubei Science and Technology Innovation Award was held in Hongshan Hotel. At the ceremony, WHU was awarded 28 prizes, including 9 first prizes, 12 second prizes, and 7 third prizes. Li Hongzhong, Secretary of Hubei Provincial Committee of the CPC, and Wang Guosheng, Governor of Hubei Province attended the ceremony and presented the prizes to the winners.

Among the 9 first prizes of WHU, 2 research projects led by WHU’s faculty received the First Prize of Hubei Natural Science Award. They are “Research on the Design, Synthesis and Biological Activity of Small Molecules with the Nucleic Acid as the Target” led by Prof. Zhou Xiang of the College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences and “Research on the Molecular Mechanism in Important Human Viral Infection and Diseases” led by Prof. Wu Jianguo of the College of Life Sciences.

Moreover, 4 research projects led by WHU won the First Prize of Hubei Science and Technology Progress Award. They are “The Correlation of Autonomic Nervous System and Arrhythmia” led by Prof. Huang Congxin of Remin Hospital of WHU and “Experiment on Astragalus Polysacharin’s (APS) Role in the Prevention and Treatment of Diabetes and Its Application” led by Prof. Zhang Wenying of Zhongnan Hospital of WHU, “Slope Progressive Failure Mechanism and Stability Control of Hydropower Projects in Complicated Surroundings” led by Prof. Jiang Qinghui of the School of Civil Engineering and “Development and Application of the Monitoring System of Tunnel Laser Positioning and Deformation” led by Research Associate Zhang Chengyuan of the School of Civil Engineering.
