WHU’s Geoscience Discipline Ranks Top 1% in the ESI

The data updated in November, 2014 from ESI (Essential Science Indicators) indicates that Wuhan University’s Geoscience comes to the top 1% in ESI global discipline ranking list. This is the first time WHU’s Geoscience discipline ranks so high.

Data shows that ESI ranks Geoscience of 544 worldwide institutes as top 1%. Wuhan University stands at the 536th place in the world and the 12th place on the mainland of China. From January 1st, 2004 to August 31st, 2014, the scholars at WHU have published 1,074 papers on academic journals related to Geoscience. These papers have been cited for 4,481 times in total and 4.17 times per paper on average.

Among the 11 WHU’s disciplines  ranking the top 1% in the ESI : Chemistry ranks top 1‰; Material Science, Clinical Medicine, Engineering Science, Biology and Biochemistry rank top 5‰; Botany and Zoology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Physics, Agricultural Science,Environmental Science and Ecology, Geoscience rank top 1%. The top 1% disciplines ranked by ESI are widely regarded as international high-level disciplines.
