Professor Ding makes a keynote speech in 2017 BIC congress

In Sep. 6-8, 2017, the 5th Biotechnology International Congress was held in Bangkok. The topic of international conference was focused on biological agriculture and biological refining, which was organized by Thai institute of biotechnology and Asian biotechnology association. Professor Mingyue Ding was invited to present a keynote speech on "Biomass catalytic pyrolysis and oligomerization for producing high - quality transport fuels". The report had attracted a huge amount of interest.

During the conference, professor Ding had deep idea exchanges on biomass refining system, liquid fuel synthesis, aviation fuel preparation, economic and technical evaluation with international counterparts coming from Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University, Kasetsart University, Hirosaki University, University of Malaya, Ateneo de Manila University, National Cheng Kung University, and so on. In addition, Professor Ding was invited to conduct academic communication with Chulalongkung University (Thailand ranked first) and Thammasat University (Thailand's top five). He made an academic report on the thermochemical conversion of biomass to liquid fuels in Thammasat University. Through conference academic communication, we have expanded the impact in the field of biomass refining in Wuhan University, and established a good friendship with international scholars.

In recent years, Professor Ding has been engaged in the research of the basic and engineering amplification of clean liquid fuels and chemicals through thermochemical transformation of biomass, coal and natural gas. Professor Ding also took in charge of two National Natural Science Foundation programs, one sub project of National "973" Program, one sub project of National Science and Technology support program, one international cooperation and exchange project, three Guangdong science and technology projects, and so on. The total funding is over 10 million yuan. In the academic field, professor Ding published more than 80 academic papers, including nearly 30 SCI (Ⅰ and Ⅱ regions) papers, and over 10 national invention patents. On the other aspect, professor Ding was responsible for designing and building a 100 tons biomass catalytic pyrolysis fluidized bed equipment, a kiloton biomass-based dimethyl ether synthesis system, a kiloton biomass-based higher alcohol synthesis system, and a ton based matching industrial catalyst producing line. The technical achievements have been exported to Sweden and Japan. Dr. Ding broke a rule to promote a professor of Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2014, and obtained the honorary of Luojia Scholar Professor of Wuhan University in 2015.

Carbon-based energy catalytic conversion group welcomes master/PhD students with the backgrounds of physical chemistry, chemical engineeringengineering thermal physics, material science and recruits post-doctoral candidates. The group has established extensive cooperation with Japan and Sweden, and offers personnel exchange every year.
