On June 18th, Robert Wang, the U.S.Deputy Chief of Mission in China led a delegation including the U.S. Consul General in Wuhan to Wuhan University (WHU). WHU Executive President Feng Youmei hosted a meeting with the delegation.

Feng Youmei pointed out that cooperation between China and United States in fields such as culture and technology has helped develop mutual trust between the nations. In the context of education globalization, WHU has signed more than 100 cooperation agreements with over 40 U.S. universities and established long-term relationships with many of those partner universities. WHU moreover is striving to improve the university living conditions and learning environment, as well as adding more English-taught courses to the curriculum to further welcome foreign students.

Robert Wang said the U.S. Embassy in China and U.S. Consulate General in Wuhan will assist in networking between WHU and U.S. universities. The U.S. Consulate General in Wuhan will also work to provide more convenient visa and other services for universities and organizations in central China.

After the meeting, the delegation met with student representatives from WHU.

Up through December, 2012, WHU had signed or renewed the agreements with 42 universities in U.S. covering issues like faculty and student exchange and research collaboration. Renowned partners include: Harvard University, Yale University, Chicago University, Duke University, University of California, Berkeley, University of California, San Diego, University of California, Santa Barbara, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Pittsburgh and Ohio State University.
