Luojia in Motion

Two students have recorded the most gorgeous scenes at WHU with one digital SLR camera in nine-month. They made this video to capture the beauty and charm of WHU.

Inspired by an online video named “China in Motion”, which was created by Tsinghua university graduates with time-lapse photographic approach, Sun Gang and Cai Xiaodong decided to shoot WHU in a similar way, out of their love for the Alma Mater.

The whole shooting plan started in March, when the cherry blossoms on the Cherry Blossom Avenue were in full bloom and thousands of people were coming to the campus to admire the beauty of WHU.

With no technical expertise, they learnt time-lapse photographty from the internet before they started the shooting, which usually took place in day time. So they decided to capture the beauty of WHU at night. They chose Ying Ding, students’ dormitory, the Old Library as their shooting places. The experiences have become an unforgettable memory for both of them.

When Sun Gang and Cai Xiaodong completed the shooting, they simply toned the photos and put them together to make a video with background music.

“We’re really happy to know that many people appreciate our work. But from the professional point of view, there is still much space for further improvement. It’s just an attempt and an exploration put together by two beginners in the art of photography and filmmaking. What we’ve learnt from the shooting process is more important. We have seen lots of beautiful sceneries, some of which we’ve never seen before. We hope through our video more people get to know about our beautiful campus.” Sun Gang said.
