At European Conference of Surface Finishing (European Interfinish 2015) and International Union of Surface Finishing (IUSF) summit held on February 26th, Professor Lin An from School of Resources and Environmental Sciences at Wuhan University, who is also the Vice President of China Surface Engineering Association (CSEA), was selected as the new Vice President of IUSF for the next four years in accordance with the articles of IUSF.
At the conference, Professor Lin reported the preparations for Interfinish 2016 to all delegates and members on behalf of CSEA which has been selected as the organizer for the 19th World Congress of Surface Finishing (Interfinish 2016). Former president, Professor Pietro Cavallotti called on all IUSF members to fully support China for the Interfinish 2016. Former Vice president, Dr. Alliance Hee-Taek, and other attendees expressed their high expectations for China. They promised to actively promote the congress and encourage their domestic scholars to contribute high-quality papers and help contact influential academic journals. The conference marked a fully developing and rapidly advancing new stage for the preparations for Interfinish 2016.
Interfinish congresses are international conferences sponsored by IUSF, and alliances from each country take turns to bid for the host. It’s held every four years and between two congresses, regional conferences are held annually in all continents. IUSF, founded in 1984, is a union comprising of associations and academic organizations from all countries. It focuses on the surface finishing technology and is devoted to promoting surface finishing science and education. Now IUSF has 27 associations or members from 23 countries, including the United States, Germany, Britain, Japan, South Korea, and so on with its secretariat at Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy.
Professor Lin has successively led and participated in the national key projects and due to his contribution in research and practical application of high temperature coating, insulating coating, electrical steel corrosion, trivalent chromium plating, and his study on the effect of Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants in Surface Finishing industry, Professor Lin was awarded the second prize of Science and Technology Progress Award form National Ministry of Machinery & Electronics, the third prize of Science and Technology Progress Award in Hubei province, and was granted the joint honor from National Science and Technology Commission, National Planning Commission, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Metallurgical Industry and Ministry of Machinery.
