Participation in the "One Belt, One Road" Program

Over 60 students and teachers at the School of Power and Mechanical Engineering joined in the research program, with the slogan, “One Belt One Road connecting the world and allowing electric reform to benefit numerous people". They went to survey the Silk Road economic areas such as Qinghai, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, and Fujian.

"Steady electricity provision lays solid foundation for the successful conduct of the ‘One Belt One Road' strategy. The determination and responsibility are vital to our nation and what we learned in the workplace is that it is crucial to have more Power and Mechanical Engineering majors." sophomore Fu Haobo commented.

Qinghai team went to the Northwestern regions of China to experience the real development of electrical industry. The power stations included the Longyang Gorge hydro-light complementary photovoltaic power plant, Lawaxi Hydropower station and Qinghai State Grid Corporation of China."This trip impressed me by the solid management system of the power plant, the standard assembly line, and the technologically advanced equipment. It is more than rewarding," Liu Yuwei, a student said.

A Salute to History

In honor of the 70th anniversary of the victory of China’s resistance against Japanese aggression, one history-lover's team went to Sichuan, Guizhou, and Yunnan, to reiterate the trace of that significant part of our national history.

At the site of the Southwest Associated University, team members sat in the former classroom, learning the stories of that hard times. "Even in those tough moments and under humble conditions, the students and teachers persisted in studying and contributed to the war effort, protecting the nation. Now the great task falls on us, and it is our due responsibility to fulfill it in our own era."

Besides, 23 social practical team members went to Nanjing under the scorching sunshine. They paid homage to the Martyrs at the anti-Japanese Aggression Memorial Hall, Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall and the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum. Unforgettable memories will last forever while children's living and studying condition will improve by a large margin.
