President Li Spoke at the forum
Themed by the "Belt and Road" and China-Egypt People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges, the Forum had attracted the leaders and representatives from 19 Chinese universities including Tsinghua University, Peking University and Wuhan University and 21 Egyptian universities such as Cairo University and Mansoura University. The participants exchanged their views on Sino-Egypt cooperation and communication of higher education with some helpful suggestions put forward during the forum. President Li remarked on “Internationalization and Localization of China’s Higher Education”. He pointed out that the internationalization of higher education gears to the demand of national development and state-to-state exchanges, leading to the localization of higher education eventually. In his speech, President Li also briefed on how to maintain an university’s own feature in education by presenting the concrete measures taken by Wuhan University to accelerate the process of internationalization and localization. His address drew a number of heated responses among the participants.
2016 witnessed the 60th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Egypt. China-Egypt University Presidents Forum and Chinese Higher Education Exhibition represented the practical action taken by the heads of two countries to implement their consensus, build a new platform to promote mutual educational cooperation and enhance Sino-Egypt friendship. This visit to Egypt presents Wuhan University to Egyptian higher education community in all dimensions and contributes to in-depth exchanges between two sides, which will serve as a solid foundation for Wuhan Univeristy’s further exchanges and cooperation with Egypt.
