On the afternoon of June 1, 2023, the general meeting of the Student English Correspondent Group (SECG) was held in the conference hall of the International Exchange and Service Centre. The meeting was divided into four parts: election of the new presidium, end-of-year work reporting, commendation of outstanding members and graduates, and meeting conclusion with photographs. The meeting served to elect a new presidium. With dreams in mind, the newly elected members took over the baton from their predecessors and volunteered to contribute to the external publicity and international exchange of Wuhan University.

In this election of the 10th presidium, candidates Li Jing, Zhang Jing and Zou Pengzhi performed well with a demonstration of their talents and abilities. After all the members voted, Li Jing was elected as the 10th president of the SECG, while Zhang Jing and Zou Pengzhi were elected as the Vice Presidents.

Next, the 9th presidium and each group leader reported on their work carried out during the first half of 2023. Zhang Ruoxi, on behalf of the 9th presidium, reported on the work and achievements of the SECG and introduced its operation mode and development direction. The eight group leaders then reported on their respective work, summarizing their achievements and experiences over the past year and sharing some of the difficulties encountered in their work and their solutions.

The meeting also commended outstanding team leaders and members and graduates. Finally, Zhang Ruoxi, president of the 9th SECG, concluded the meeting. She said that the meeting laid a foundation for the next development plan of the SECG, and also provided a good platform for its members to communicate and learn from each other. She hoped that this group would continue to improve the quality and level of its work in the future, and provide better news and services to its readers.
The commendation of outstanding members
The Wuhan University SECG was established in March 2014 and registered as a school-level association in 2019. Under the guidance of the Office of International Affairs and the Youth League Committee, the SECG maintains WHU’s English official website, promotes the public image of WHU and organizes overseas exchange activities through English news reporting, translation, and photography. In the future, the Wuhan University SECG will continue to advance internal operations and contribute to the process of building WHU into a world-class university.
