On November 28, 2020, the International Student Culture Day, which was organized by the school of International Education and the International Student Union of Wuhan University (WISU), ended with jubilation and excitement.

The opening address

At the beginning of the festival, Ms. Liu Yebing, teacher from the School of International Education of WHU, praised the new student union for its commitment and encouraged students to enjoy the occasion.

Martial, leader of WISU, extended his gratitude to the school administration for keeping students safe during the pandemic. He also appreciated the union’s hard work to provide careful service and activities for international students during the “lockdown”.

Then, it’s time for the games and cultural shows. All counselors from the WHU International Office joined the festivity by playing games and interacting with the students. Chinese students of WHU also joined their international friends to celebrate.

In the cultural display stands, international students from ten countries, including Pakistan, South Korea, Egypt and Liberia presented their traditional food, costumes, artworks, and so on. Students from different countries also learned about the diversified world culture while tasting different delicious food.

China always advocates “harmony without uniformity” and emphasizes that “All things are nourished together without their injuring one another”. It’s the differences of civilizations that create such a brilliant, colorful and diverse world. As a result, each civilization can advance through interdependence and interaction. On the occasion of the International Recreation Festival, it is hoped that Wuhan University students from different countries can enjoy the moment and better know each other so as to promote the harmony and integration of various languages and cultures.
