During the 2022 Congress of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) in Nice, France, Academician Li Deren received the Brock Gold Medal Award for his landmark achievements in photogrammetry, remote sensing and geo-spatial information sciences. Li is the first Chinese to receive this honor.

During the quadrennial ISPRS Congress, scholars, engineers, entrepreneurs and managers from photogrammetry, remote sensing, geo-spatial information science and other related fields all over the world gathered both online and offline to discuss future development of the field under the title of “Imaging today, foreseeing tomorrow”.

During the congress, Professor Christian Heipke, President of the ISPRS, hosted the opening ceremony and announced the awarding of the Brock Gold Medal to Li Deren, and together with Professor Charles Toth, Vice President of the ISPRS, presented the award to him.

“This honor belongs not only to me, but also to my team, my university and my country. In the future, we will continue to use photogrammetry and remote sensing technology to provide human society with faster, more accurate, reliable and intelligent spatial information services,” Li Deren said in a video message, expressing his gratitude.
