Sakura disturbance caused by Kimono

(Reporter:Kanghua Yang, Yinghua Chen) Recently, the sakura in our university have bloomed picturesquely as expected. But on the afternoon of March 24th, a physical altercation between two sakura tourists and security guards in the university caused an Internet sensation after relevant video was posted online.

The bone of contention focused on the security guards who didn’t allow visitors to enter the campus because they wore "Kimonos", whereas the visitors argued that they wore "Tang Suit". As events unfolded gradually, the local public security department carried on further investigation of its cause, and subsequently made an official statement.

It is reported that the incident came after the two men wanted to admire the blossoms while one of them failed to make an appointment in accordance with relevant regulations and was immediately blocked by the security staff from entering the campus. However, they tried to force their way into the campus which provoked even more conflict, and that's what happened in the video. On June 25th, Wuhan University's official WeChat account also released a notification, giving a detailed description concerning the whole event and expressing regret for the conflict.

However, the Internet was still flooded with different messages, some criticize security staff for being brutal and others criticize Wuhan University for being not inclusive enough. But we ought to realize that a country has its laws and so do a university. In addition, as the saying goes, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. Due to the special history of sakura in Wuhan University, it has its own special reasons for its regulation. What we should do is to be more rational rather than participate in the "war" on the Internet.

It's universally acknowledged that Wuhan University always adheres to the spirit of openness, welcoming visitors to enjoy flowers. Therefore, please give more understanding to Wuhan University, appreciate sakura in a more civilized way and abide by relevant rules and regulations.
