Committee watches the live broadcast commemorating the 100th anniversary of the May 4th Movement

(Reporter: Yijia Sun; Editor: Ang Xiao) On April 30, the congress commemorating the 100th anniversary of the May 4th Movement was held in the Great Hall of the People at 10:30 am. General secretary Xi Jinping attended the congress and delivered an important speech. At that time, Wang Siming, vice secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Power and Mechanical Engineering(SPME), Sun Linge, secretary of General Committee Office and other department heads together with the young student cadres of the college watched the live broadcasting, listened to and learned the important speech on CCTV. Students in our school also expressed their feelings after watching the live broadcast.

At the congress, general secretary Xi Jinping called on young people in the new era to take it as their duty to realize the great revival of the Chinese nation and live up to the expectations of the party and the people and the great trust of the nation. And to the youth of the new era he put forward six requirements, which call on them to set lofty ideals, love the great motherland, take on the responsibilities of the times, have the courage to hone their efforts, acquire excellent skills and exercise moral character. In fact, the young people in our new era are in the key stage of the development of this country and nation. They must cherish this era, live up to their youth, create their personal value, create miracle with their youth and sweat and impress the world.

Xi also pointed out the direction of the Party's youth work. Firstly, they should take the initiative to approach the youth, listen to them, be their bosom friends; Secondly, they should care about young people, do youth work with a warm heart; Thirdly, they have to educate and guide young people.

In the Great Hall of the People, students from Tsinghua University and Beijing Normal University who are of the same age as us were also present. In the meeting room of our school, we also learned from a group of ambitious young people and teachers from SPME who aspire to be the new youth of the new era. The centenary speech proceeded in a solemn and orderly manner, as if the young people of different generations had been sitting together at the moment, discussing the great cause of national rejuvenation. In fact, although times has changed, what remains unchanged is the Youth Day spirit inherited by us. What remains unchanged is that every member of the Chinese nation, early or late, was, is or will be a passionate and high-spirited youth.

"A generation has a generation’s long march, a generation has a generation’s responsibility." I believe that our young people will live up to their great trust, embrace the new era, forge ahead in the new era, shine with splendor and create miracles in their dedication to mankind.
