Shen Zhuanghai, male, from Boai, Henan Province, was born in November 1971. He has a master’s degree and a doctoral degree. He joined the Communist Party of China in May 1992. Entering the workforce in July 1997, he is now the Deputy Secretary of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of Wuhan University, the President of the Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences, a professor in the School of Marxism and a doctoral supervisor.

Shen obtained both his bachelor’s degree (1994) and Master’s degree (1997) of laws in Wuhan University. Then he continued his doctorate study on Marxist Theory and Ideological and Political Education in the following 3 years. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Postdoctoral research station from 2001 to 2003. He has been engaging in teaching in WHU since July 1997 and was promoted as lecturer in 1999, associate professor in 2001, and professor in 2003. He then served as the Deputy Secretary of Youth League Committee (concurrently), Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of School of Political Science and Public Management, Secretary of College of Education, Minister of Social Science Department, the Executive Vice President and then the President of Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences. From December 2016, he started to work as the Deputy Secretary of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of Wuhan University.

Prof. Shen mainly conducts research works on socialist cultural construction with Chinese characteristics, basic theories of ideological and political education and so on. Meanwhile, he has been in charge of many projects including Key Projects of National Social Science Funds and Major Projects of Philosophy and Social Science of the Ministry of Education. He has published more than 100 papers inChinese Social Sciences,Seeking Truth,Marxist Studies,People's DailyandGuangming Daily, and has published more than 10 personal monographs and academic works as editor-in-chief. His series of papers, such asChinese Discourse of Cultural Soft Power,China's Circumstances and China's Roadand so on all won the first prize for outstanding achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences in Hubei Province.Soul of Revitalizing the Nation - Interpretation of the Socialist Core Value System, another work of his as editor-in-chief, won the Five One Project Award of the 13th Spiritual Civilization Construction of the Publicity Department. In 2013, he gave a lecture on the 12th collective study of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee.

Supported by Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University Chang Jiang Scholars Program, he was successively selected into the New Century Excellent Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education (2004), the Four Batch Talent Program of the National Publicity and Culture System of the Publicity Department of the CPC central committee (2008), the Award Program for Distinguished Professors of Changjiang Scholars of the Ministry of Education (2013), and the National Ten Thousand Plan Leading Talents in Philosophy and Social Sciences (2014).

Social Affiliations: Secretary General of the National Institute of Social Sciences Management in Colleges and Universities, and the President of the Association of Social Sciences Management in Hubei Province.
