Recently, WHU Executive President Feng Youmei and Duke University Vice Provost Nora Bynum held talks in Kunshan, Jiangsu to discuss deeper cooperation through Duke Kunshan University, a collaborative project between the two universities. DKU, an international and innovative institute, will welcome in its first group of students this fall.
During the talks, cooperation in multiple programs was discussed, covering a wide range of fields such as economics, law, chemistry, bioscience, remote sensing and medical science. The establishment of WHU-Duke Research Center was proposed by Feng Youmei as a good example of possible cooperative projects that aim to offer high-end services. In terms of personnel exchange, Feng extended gracious invitations to Duke faculty to join the DKU program and suggested a larger-scale, wider-range student exchange between the two universities to promote communication. It was also proposed that excellent WHU executive staff and faculty be sent to DKU to learn the advanced model there which can be introduced back to WHU.
Such recommendations were well received by Bynum who showed a great interest in possible cooperative programs, including the joint research center and the summer school. She was also keen to know more about the “Academic Week” WHU would host in Chicago this October.
Detailed collaboration plans will soon be finalized and signed to guide a more comprehensive and profound cooperation between the two prestigious universities.
