Recently, 65 students at Wuhan University’s Institute of Advanced Study (IAS) have received offers for full scholarships at world-renowned universities. 18 of the offers are for doctorate programs, while 47 are for masters programs.
During the 2011-2012 academic year, students in the IAS class of mathematics, economics & finance have received offer from Stanford University, Columbia University, University of Chicago, Cornell University, University of Pennsylvania, Duke University, Imperial College and HEC Paris.
WHU’s IAS is the earliest mathematical economics & finance training institute in China to meet international standards. Since its establishment in 1994, IAS has produced a large amount of high-level mathematics experts.
Many IAS graduates are now working at major higher education and research institutes after their studies abroad, such as University of Michigan, University of Rochester, University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, National University of Singapore, Peking University, Tsinghua University and Fudan University. They have published more than 20 articles in SSCI journals and 30 in Chinese journals on economics. Some are employed by elite organizations like the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Federal Reserve, UK Energy and Hong Kong Monetary Authority. They often visit the Institute to speak and help cultivate a new generation of mathematics experts.
