The Wuhan University (WHU) and Xiangyang Municipal Government Cooperation Agreement was signed on May 18, 2012 to expand university-industry collaboration, and science, technology and human resource development.
Present at the signing ceremony were Fan Ruiping, member of the Hubei Provincial CPC Standing Committee and secretary of Xiangyang Municipal CPC Committee; Bie Bixiong, deputy secretary of Xiangyang Municipal CPC Committee and mayor of Xiangyang City; Liu Zhongchu, member of the Xiangyang Municipal CPC Standing Committee and Director of the Organization Department; Wang Zhongyun, deputy mayor of Xiangyang City; Li Jian, secretary of WHU CPC Committee; Li Xiaohong, WHU’s President; and Jiang Changzhong, WHU’s Vice President. Huang Congxin, WHU’s Vice President, moderated the ceremony.
President Li Xiaohong and Vice President Jiang Chang represented WHU to sign the agreements while Bie Bixiong represented Xiangyang. All hoped to deepen the cooperation between the two sides.
At the signing ceremony, Bie Bixiong introduced the economic and social development of Xiangyang. Li Jiang delivered his remarks, expressing his appreciation to Xiangyang for its support to WHU and WHU’s determination to continue providing technological and human resource support to Xiangyang.
Fan Ruiping noted that WHU and Xiangyang have a long history in their cooperation, and Xiangyang’s development would not have been achieved without WHU’s support and assistance. He hoped that the two sides could further cooperation in various sectors. President Li Xiaohong also expressed WHU’s desire for continuing to promote Xiangyang’s economic and social progress.
According to the agreement, WHU and Xiangyang will carry out cooperation through university-industry collaboration, industrialization of scientific research, WHU’s internship bases in Xiangyang and high-level exchange mechanisms. WHU will also provide strategic planning consultancy and experts to better facilitate Xiangyang’s urban construction.
