On July 13th, Wuhan University and China Aerospace Science and Technology Group(CASTG) signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing. University President Li Xiaohong and the General Manager Ma Xingrui signed the agreement on behalf of the two sides. Academician Li Deren of State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Survey, Mapping and Remote Sensing of Wuhan University, Vice President Yuan Jiajun of China Aerospace Science and Technology Group, and relevant department heads of both sides attended the signing ceremony.
Wuhan University has strong science research capability and an abundant talent pool in satellite remote sensing, mapping, navigation and other areas of space technology, while China Aerospace Science and Technology Group possesses rich experiences and strong practical platform of large-scale systems engineering management in launch vehicles, satellites, manned spacecraft and other areas. Therefore, both sides hope to establish a closer cooperating relationship for "equal footing and co-prosperity", and break the traditional models and mechanisms of industry—university—research institute collaboration, achieving advantage complementation.
It is reported that the focus of their further cooperation is to establish the verification group for aerospace innovation platform, found the Aerospace Innovation Research Institute in Wuhan, form Academic Committees on both sides and set up a mechanism for regular academic communication and discussion.
