The Joint Research Centre of Energy and Mechanical Engineering of Wuhan University and University of Aberdeen Established Successfully

(Reporter: Kanghua Yang)On October 8th, the team led by Prof. Sheng Liu, the dean of our school, and Prof. Yong Kang, the associate dean of our school, visited the School of Engineering in the University of Aberdeen. During the visit, both sides unveiled the nameplate for the “ Joint Research Centre of Energy and Mechanical Engineering”, and deeply discussed the future development of the two academies, which meaned that our communication has taken a new step.

The meeting was held in Duncan library, and the vice-principle of Wuhan University—Prof. Hongbing Shu, the representatives of our school, the vice-principle of Foreign Affairs in the University of Aberdeen-- Prof. Richard Wells, the vice-principle of Scientific Research—Prof. Marion Campbell, the dean of School of Engineering—Prof. Igor A. GUZ and Prof. Ana Ivanovic attended the meeting. At the meeting, the deans in both sides separately gave an account of the foundation of the Joint Research Centre and its future development. Prof. GUZ expressed the will that both sides would cooperate on the basis of joint research areas, declare scientific research projects together, strengthen bilateral exchanges at the same time, and promote the development of the Research Centre as well. The dean Sheng Liu also expressed that both sides will cooperate more on scientific research cooperation, teachers’ exchange, students training, technology sharing and so on, and hoped that the Joint Research Centre of Energy and Mechanical Engineering could become a symbol of the cooperation between two universities.

Then the representatives of our school visited the laboratories, and took in-depth academic exchanges with the head of research groups in the School of Engineering through academic reports, mutually understood each other's discipline advantages and scientific research results, and laid a solid foundation for further deep cooperation. In the meantime, the two sides hoped the Joint Research Centre can serve as an exchange platform pushing our scientific research cooperation to a new height.
